Around the world in 80 dishes in Shoreditch

If you like to spend your evenings socialising, tantalising your taste buds and being slightly hipster-ish in the process, then you are in for a treat, as the Street Food Night Markets are back and better than ever.

Taking Shoreditch by storm, the Urban Food Fest will be running every Saturday until June 21st from 5pm to midnight. Situated in the Euro Car Parks, the markets are completely free to attend and they consist of 15 street food stalls and trucks that change every week, meaning that no two visits will ever be the same. Visitors will be able to enjoy gourmet global cuisine, locally crafted ales, beers and cider, urban cocktails and DJs playing amazing tunes well into the night.

Examples of dishes that have already been on offer include wood-fired oven pizza, sushi, shawarma, jerk chicken and burritos. There is even a 'V Corner' for vegans and vegetarians, while kitschy stalls will offer a wide array of scrumptious desserts.

If you are not exactly the foodiest of people, fear not, as the trucks themselves are impressive to look at, whether it be a pimped out horsebox, a Thai tuk tuk or food even being dished out in a US ambulance. Furthermore, there is an exhaustive programme of up-and-coming entertainers and local bands playing, meaning that you are sure to find something here to suit all, ahem, tastes.

After getting your taste buds excited, head to one of the many cool and trendy bars that Shoreditch has to offer, such as the Hoxton, Brewdog or McQueen. You might want to also use this as an excuse to make a real weekend of it, visiting some of the other amazing attractions and events that the capital city has to offer at weekends. And after all that, crash at one of the nearby Shaftesbury hotels – you deserve it!
