One of London’s pride and joys is the Thames, and while this long stretch of water is often celebrated on a daily basis with the swath of boats that grace it with their presence, a boat show next year is set to take the area by storm.

The biggest and most popular boat show in the world will be once again returning to Excel, with over 500 exhibitors showcasing all things boating. Whether it is modern innovations, traditional equipment or holidays that the entire family can enjoy, there is much here to be enjoyed. There are few events in the social calendar that combine shopping with water sports and boating, so this is one day out you won’t want to miss.

Everyone is welcome to the event, so if you are a seasoned boater or you are looking to dip your toe in, ahem, the water for the first time, there will be something here to suit all ability levels. For more information on who will be attending the exhibition, check the official website. Discounted entry tickets will be available for children aged below 15.

The London Boat Show will be running from January 9th to 18th 2015, and as this is often a busy time for the capital city, you are encouraged to book your London hotel as soon as possible. You may want to make a real weekend of it and try and incorporate some of London’s best attractions, such as Westminster Abbey, the London Eye and the London Dungeons. If you are on a bit of a shoestring budget, both the British Museum and the National Portrait Gallery are free to enter. What more could you really ask for?
