Alexander McQueen is arguably one of the most renowned fashion designers of the 21st century, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London is set to celebrate his work in a fantastic new exhibition.
Savage Beauty is the only retrospective exhibit of its kind, looking at the creative figure who transcended the boundaries of fashion, art and technology all in the world of tailoring. Running from March 14th to July 19th 2015, the show was originally created by the Costume Institute in New York’s Met Museum and now fans in London will be able to enjoy it for themselves.
The display boasts a wide array of McQueen’s work, some of which are extremely rare and have never before been seen by the public. There are over 200 items to enjoy that span across his illustrative career, with many of them centered around his famous catwalk shows over the years. The collection is so expansive that some items have even been loaned by the likes of the House of Givenchy and Katy England.
If fashion is not really your thing, fear not, as there is also film archives, theatrical techniques and even 3D holographic technology as part of the exhibition – to put it simply, there will be something here that is sure to astound you. Innovative, camp and exciting, this exhibit is one not to be missed in the capital city next year. Adult tickets start from £16.
If you are looking to make a real trip of it to London, consider the Shaftesbury hotels as a place to stay – they are luxurious, spacious, comfortable and, most importantly, affordable. This will give you a real chance to enjoy all that this remarkable city has to offer.
