Millions of people flock to London every year to enjoy the huge variety of entertainment venues our capital is home to. Incredible landmarks, gripping plays and vibrant nightlife spots are just a few of the attractions that draw countless tourists to London for city breaks and weekend getaways, with new activities and interest points springing up every day.
If you’re a gamer touring our capital then you’ll be pleased to know that London is packed full of places to get your interactive hit. Whether you’re a hardcore Call of Duty player with a lust for the very latest in shoot-em-up action or a retro gaming fanatic looking to get a nostalgic gaming fix, our capital has got attractions and stores by the bucket load to suit gamers of all tastes and eras.
162 Wardour Street
A short stroll from your opulent lodgings at the Shaftesbury Premier London Paddington will take you to the GAME store in Soho. As with most GAME stores across the country, you’ll find a comprehensive stock here with thousands of games covering every genre and platform that you could wish for. What makes this store truly special, however, is the thrilling downstairs BELONG floor.
BELONG is essentially a basement gaming arena filled with every console you could want to play on. You can pay for an hour or a full day pass, with the latter providing better value for money; we all know how fast time can fly when you’re gaming. There are multiple consoles for each platform, so you’re nearly always guaranteed a spot at BELONG, and each console also comes with high-quality gaming chairs so you can blast mutants or score screamers in superb comfort. There’s also a great selection of food and drink too so you can continue your quest without ever having to leave; we recommend popping outside for a breath of fresh air at least once during the day though!
Las Vegas Arcade
89-91 Wardour Street
If the latest releases don’t do it for you and you have a nostalgic pallet for retro games, then Las Vegas Arcade is the place for you. Thanks to its Soho location it isn’t far from our hotels in Paddington London either. The arcade is truly like stepping into a time portal, with air hockey tables, snooker tables and gaming machines filled with monsters and bad guys to blast through using the classic plastic guns. There’s also dance mats to try out if you’re feeling particularly energetic, making this spot a true haven for retro gamers looking to enjoy the good old days in the centre of the capital.
156 Camden High Street, 70 Tottenham Court Road, 32 Rathbone Place,
An eastern walk from our hotels in Paddington London will take you to the CEX store just south of Regent’s Park. CEX is brilliant if you’re a gamer on a budget, with a huge plethora of trade-in games and consoles available to help you get a great gaming experience without splashing the cash. What’s more, CEX is filled with a host of other bargain electronics such as phones and computers if you’re in the market for a new iPhone or laptop to compliment your newest gaming purchases.
