London Eye gets festive makeover

The popular London Eye attraction on the Southbank is getting ready for Christmas with a number of festive activities in the run-up to the big day.

Once again the famous London attraction has created a 300 square metre Eyeskate rink in the shadow of the big wheel that will give visitors staying in central London hotels the chance to enjoy some time on the ice in a fabulous setting.

The rink is open until January 6th 2013 and is open from 12pm to 8pm during November and from 10am to 9pm during December and January.

Tickets vary in price depending on the date of visit but include a 45 minute session on the ice as well as skate hire. There are also stabilising seals available to help younger children stay upright.

Also included is free access to the London Eye’s new 4D Experience, which combines short 3D films with theatre effects such as wind, bubbles and mist to add a unique fourth dimension.

Visitors should also consider supplementing a trip on the London Eye with a trip on a river tour. Those buying both London Eye and river boat tickets are entitled to a ten per cent discount.

The Eye’s website explained: “Before or after your experience enjoy a unique 40 minute circular sightseeing cruise on the River Thames with fascinating live commentary that brings the city to life, presented by specialist guides.

“Highlights include Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Tower Bridge and the Tower of London.”

The London Eye is close to Waterloo and Embankment London Underground stations so well placed for those staying in London hotels over the Christmas season.
