Couples indulging in romantic getaways in London over the festive season have been advised on the best places to get the perfect Christmas day meal by tourism group Visit London.

“Relax this Christmas and let someone else do the cooking!” enthused the group. A number of London restaurants are open on Christmas Day, offering a choice of delicious Christmas dinners.”

Ideal for those taking a break in central London hotels, the exclusive Rib Room offers a high-quality dining experience for those looking for something special.

The three-course Christmas Day lunch features traditional dishes with luxury embellishments, starting with foie gras and smoked duck breast.

Roast turkey and the restaurant’s signature roast rib of Buccleuch Aberdeen Angus assumes its place as the main course, while the whole experience is capped off with a Christmas pudding and Valrhona dessert.

However, this gastronomic extravagance won’t come cheap, as diners are expected to settle a £225 per person bill.

Luckily, meals come somewhat cheaper at the Cinnamon Club, which offers Christmas dining with an Indian twist.

“The four-course Christmas Day feast includes a spiced Martini, Keralan-style lobster soup, clove-roasted goose breast, tandoori black leg chicken breast, and garam masala Christmas pudding with nutmeg custard,” explained the group.

Full-bellied customers may feel happier with the bill of £75 per person, while Marylebone Village restaurant One08 offers a cheaper deal at £69 per person.

Christmas Day lunch starts with parsnip soup alongside honey glazed ham hock and apple. This is followed by a choice of braised English lamb shank or roast Norfolk bronze turkey.

Finally, the meal closes with baked figs served with ice cream for dessert.

Clapham Common’s Avalon is encouraging people to “eat, drink and be merry” with it six-course meal for only £50 per adult and £20 per child.

“Main courses include roast free-range turkey with all the trimmings (including pigs in blankets), pan-fried sea bass fillet, and Swiss chard and fontina cheese cannelloni,” revealed the tourism group.
