The mammoth-sized fireworks display is set to wow thousands of revellers as the "bigger and better" show is set to light up the sky as Big Ben chimes midnight.

New visitors to the capital have been given tips on where to get the best vantage point on the display, including the designated viewing areas between Waterloo and Lambeth bridges, along the Embankment and Blackfriars Bridge.

Those looking for a wild party to ring in 2012 with have been urged to attend the Electric Minds New Year's Eve Party.

Taking place at a secret location, the party is hosted by a well-known record label which will bring a variety of special guests, including Appleblim, Jay Shepheard, Dolan Bergin, Moustache Mamas and Duff Disco, among others.

If people's detective skills aren't up to the task of sussing out the location, Visit London suggests the Around the World in Eight New Year's Eves.
