London is undoubtedly one of the most iconic cities in the world, and now it’s officially one of the world’s top hotels destinations, according to a new survey.
TripAdvisor carried out the survey and awarded 22 hotels in the capital across five categories, resulting in London outperforming New York, Rome and Barcelona combined.
James Kay, TripAdvisor spokesperson, says that the Tripadvisor Travellers Choice Awards recognises the hotels across the globe, according to those that really matter – the travellers themselves. The award winners are determined and based on the thousands of reviews and opinions that travellers provide.
There are thousands of London hotels spread out across the capital, whether you’re after a cheap hotel stay or a luxurious experience. In the wake of major London events in the past few years, it’s clear that the London hotel market is booming.
Julie Chappell, Director of Consumer Marketing and Digital Channels at London & Partners says: “We are delighted that so many hotels in our capital are being recognised and revered by TripAdvisor travellers across the globe. Aside from our rich cultural heritage, world class museums and restaurants and unrivalled shopping experiences, London has an incredible range of accommodation options for all kinds of visitors and budgets.
“These awards are a true testament to the hard work carried out by London’s hotel industry and the recent announcement on record-breaking tourism figures means this is a well-timed triumph for the capital.”
The news comes in the wake of record breaking tourism figures for the capital. The figures released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) for July-September 2013 show that a record 4.9 million people visited the city.
