Rihanna added to Hackney Weekend line-up

Those lucky enough to get tickets to Radio 1’s Hackney Festival this summer will be delighted to hear that superstar Rihanna has been added to the festival’s line-up.

The singer is the latest act to be added to the bill, which so far includes the likes of Jay-Z, Florence + the Machine, Tinie Tempah and many others.

With such a star-studded line-up, music fans across the country will no doubt be eager to get their hands on tickets to the festival and book rooms at London hotels so they can be in the capital for the event.

The Hackney Weekend is a special edition of Radio 1’s annual Big Weekend, being held in Hackney to celebrate the 2012 Olympics which is largely being staged in the London borough.

More than 100 acts have already been confirmed for the two-day event, taking place on Hackney Marshes with artists performing across six stages.

The event is free, apart from a small booking fee, but to be in with a chance of receiving tickets music fans had to register with the festival’s online site.

A total of 100,000 tickets for the event, which takes place on July 23rd and 24th, will be given away, with a proportion of these are reserved for local residents.

And the event has proved to be so popular that when the first batch of tickets became available at 11:00GMT on Sunday (March 25th), they had sold out by lunchtime.

Another batch is due to be released at 16:00GMT today.

Other acts performing at the Hackney Weekend include Swedish House Mafia, Emeli Sande, Calvin Harris, Nero, David Guetta, Deadmau5, The Maccabees, The Ting Tings, Dappy, Chase & Status, Professor Green, Michael Kiwanuka, Labrinth and Plan B.
