London is undoubtedly one of the cultural capitals of Europe, let alone the UK, nd that is why it has such great shopping choices. Whichever borough you’re visiting, there are plenty of great markets, shopping centres and high streets to explore, each with their own unique character. One area which is especially unique for its shopping, is Paddington. In part because of its proximity to the city and in part due to its rich history and culture, the area of Paddington and Bayswater has become a prime spot for high streets and boutique shopping. If you are staying at the Shaftesbury Premier London Paddington, then you have your work cut out for you, the shops being within mere walking distance.
Below are some of our favourite shopping districts and destinations in and around Paddington.
L’artisan du Chocolat
Based on the iconic Westbourne Grove, this independent Chocolate retailer is one of the best shops in the city for handmade sweet treats. If your loved one has a sweet tooth, then why not surprise them with a hand picked selection of these original Belgian chocolates, bringing a wide range of hampers for you to pick and choose. L’artisan showcases some of the most unique flavours out there today, including mint mojito and berry cheesecake flavour treats.

WIth its vintage Malbecs and Roses, the Winery is also open for wine tastings in the evenings.
Paddington Bear Shop
It wouldn’t be a true trip to Paddington’s Shaftesbury London if you didn’t check out the Paddington Bear shop in Paddington Station. Due to the fame of the bear, this shop has become a popular tourist stop off during their travels to and from Heathrow and the West of England. You can find Paddington toys and books, all inspired by the Michael Bond books which he has been writing since the 1950’s.
Whiteley’s Shopping Centre
Whiteley’s is a now defunct shopping centre in the Bayswater area of London. This shopping centre, once an incredibly popular shopping centre filled with high street shops and owned by the famous entrepreneurial Brunei family, is now an unsold Victorian building based in the heart of Bayswater.
Not far from Paddington, you can find the highly popular Oxford Street, one of the busiest high streets in Europe, and home to some of the biggest UK and European stores flagship shops. Here you can fine such names as John Lewis, Marks and Spencers, Liberty London, and Selfridges, among many others. It’s not the busiest shopping street in Europe for nothing, with its eclectic mix of department stores, towering clothes retailers and restaurant chains, the area has become a go to for the shopping need sof locals and tourists alike. Watch out for rush hour though, this street can get very busy indeed!
