For those thinking of spoiling their dads this year for Father's Day on Sunday June 16th, there can arguably be no better place to do it than in London where there is so much going on and many fantastic cheap London hotels where the whole family can stay without breaking the bank.

If your dad is a bit of a culture vulture, then there is wealth of brilliant art galleries and museums to go to. The London Transport Museum might go down well with fans of trainspotting, while the HMS Belfast is sure to impress visitors – both of which are extremely family-friendly.

The National Gallery, the Barbican Art Gallery, the National Portrait Gallery, the Saatchi Gallery and the Tate Britain are just a small selection of possible destinations for art lovers, while the Science Museum, the V&A, the Natural History Museum and the Museum of London are all bound to feed fathers' curiosities about the world around them.

After an inquisitive morning going around some of the country's best and most iconic gallery and museum spaces, it will be time for a spot of lunch. For this, there is no shortage of options, with a plethora of gastro pubs, fine dining restaurants and food markets to go to. Jamie Oliver, Gordon Ramsay, Marcus Wareing, Michel Roux Jr and Gregg Wallace all boast their own establishments in the city, while families can also be sure to pick up a splendid bite to eat at Camden or Borough Markets.

In the afternoon, if your dad is a sports nut, why not consider a stadium tour of perhaps Chelsea's football ground, Wembley or even Wimbledon? There are also some fantastic sports museums in the form of the Arsenal Museum or the World Rugby Museum at Twickenham.

After all of that, you may like to get tickets for a show at the theatre or perhaps some stand-up comedy. However, if the whole family is quite tired enough, there can arguably be nothing better than knowing you have booked a hotel in advance in order to crash out after a busy day in the capital.
