The capital’s ‘greatest architectural showcase’ kicks off next month

London is indeed well known for its iconic skyline and stunning architecture – particularly in certain neighbourhoods such as Notting Hill and Covent Garden. Therefore, all those with a fascination in the capital's beautiful buildings are urged to take London getaways over the weekend of September 21st and 22nd for what is being described as the city's "greatest architectural showcase" – Open House London.

For two days only, over 700 buildings of all different kinds will be opening their doors to the public – and all absolutely free of charge.

The event is bound to attract industry experts and professionals – such as architects and engineers – but also those with an eye for art and beautiful design, and perhaps even those looking for some renovation or refurbishment ideas!

From the middle of August, those planning to come along will be able to order the official guide, with a full programme of all of the buildings participating in the initiative, opening days and times, architectural information and interest facts about the architecture in London more generally. This can be ordered via the official website for the event.

Individuals who particularly enjoy Open House London may like to consider booking an Open-City London Architecture Tour – part of a year-round programme featuring guided tours to be taken by boat, bike, foot or bus – giving people the chance to explore the architecture of London in a way they are unlikely to have ever done before. Most of the tours will last around three hours, giving attendees a really comprehensive insight into the building blocks of England's magnificent capital city.

'An Evening with… Private Homes' will even give people the chance to explore private, award-winning residences, with both the architects and owners present. This could be the perfect way for budding architects and designers to get inspired, and – with free prosecco as part of the package – will invariably offer a highly entertaining evening for all who go along.
