When staying in a corporate hotel in London like Shaftesbury Premier Hyde Park, you are going to need a towering pot of ice cream or some sort of outrageous dessert to help balance out the scales, right? Or even if you are visiting with the kids and are looking for a bit of a treat, the same applies. Basically, there is always an excuse for a mountain of sickly sweet dessert when you need one.
Chin Chin Ice Cream
The Chin Chin Labs make ice cream in that awe-inspiring way that has swept the internet – with liquid nitrogen and a lot of chocolate-y love. There are two locations in London, with the closest to Shatesbury Suits in Marble Arch being the Soho branch.
But even the Camden branch isn’t too dramatic a trek from Shaftesbury hotels – and it is well worth it.
Flavours are dependent on the branch and the time of year – seasonal flavours like Spiced Pumpkin Latte are definitely a thing. There are weekly specials, meaning that a weekly visit is quite achievable without the risk of ever running out of decadent flavours. Though most well-known for its ice cream, the ice cream sandwiches are otherworldly. Throw on some marshmallow fluff and a dollop of Fleur de sel Caramel Sauce, and you have got yourself a devilishly good dessert on your hands.

Dum Dum Donutterie
If scrumptious doughnut consumption is a cult, then Dum Dum Donutterie is the leader. Nestled in the east side of London in Bethnal Green’s innovative and quirky Box Park, Dum Dum are no dum dums when it comes to baking, trying all new things with a dessert classic – and trust us, it is working. Their bespoke doughnuts are baked, rather than fried, and they use only natural ingredients. This is in no way a limitation, it only enhances the punchy flavours and handmade goodness. The range of flavours is vast and their show-stopper is an eight-person cronut. Between the dark chocolate raspberry and the salted caramel and lotus biscuit flavours, you will want it all.

Is there anything more satisfying that popping a big roll of bubble wrap? The simple answer is yes, and it is eating Bubblewrap Waffle’s bubble-wrap-textured waffles. The only thing more outrageously mouth-watering than the waffle itself is the heap of sugary bliss you can fill it with…
The bubblewrap waffle is shaped into a cone, into which you can add ice cream, chocolate sauce, syrup and any other topping that stands out to you from the rows of goodies. Bubblewrap Waffle is happiness in waffle-form. Guests staying at the Shaftesbury Premier Hyde Park are only about two miles away from Bubblewrap Waffle, which means you’ll get to enjoy these fun (and tasty!) treats over and over and over again.

If you haven’t yet been to this late-night bar that serves exclusively dessert and cocktails to compliment them, then you are about to walk into a whole new world of decadence. This is not your average dessert bar, though. This is something quite special. Each dessert is plated and presented with all manners of gastronomical class and artistry, with the temptation to snap a photo of it as strong as the temptation to inhale it in one fell swoop. Think Parisian chic meets Willy Wonka and you will have a bit more of an idea of the scale these sweet-toothed masterminds work on.

There is something about somewhere that specialises in one kind of dessert that really makes it shine out from the rest – maybe it is that you know that all their time and energy is going into making that product the very best it can be. Well, Yolkin is an authority on macaron ice cream sandwiches and it is out of the question for you not to try it yourself. These creative, mouth-sized treats come in every bright and beautiful colour you can imagine, combining the light and crispy macaron outer layer made as per Parisian tradition, filed with the flavoursome ice cream inner of their whimsical invention.

Maxwell’s Bar & Grill
The Maxwell’s “Freakshakes” have earned their title as some of the most outrageous but sensational milkshakes in the city. Throughout the year, they offer limited edition freakshakes that take both social media and your taste buds by a storm. The themes come from all over, from Pokemon to the Powerpuff Girls. The milkshake, “drinkable” element is creamy and delicious in its own right, but topped with everything from biscuits and marshmallows to doughnuts and candy, and you will find this is just as much a meal as it is a drink. They have recently introduced crazy-tasty vegan options, so those dairy-free sweet-tooths out there have nothing to worry about. A trip to Maxwell’s Bar & Grill for dessert is less a quick chocolate-fix and more a culinary life event.

Do you ever catch yourself thinking, come dessert time, “I could really do with a mug of melted chocolate right now”? Well, if not, you will now: and we have just the place for it. SAID London is an Italian artisan chocolate shop that is perfect for those just wanting a chocolate-y nibble after dinner in London’s West End, as well as those looking for a steaming mug of melted chocolate. To call this dessert feature a “hot chocolate” might be misleading, given the usual nature of the beverage – but it is also a perfectly apt description of what you will get: a hot cup of chocolate, no additions, no frills. The place is pumping constantly – but it is always worth the wait once the sweet, thick chocolate passes your lips. Just being in there, you feel like a kid in a little chocolate factory!
