The shorts are about to invade London

The London Film Festival may be well and truly past us but movie buffs in the capital should not fret, as the London Short Film Festival is about to take the city by storm.

Running from January 9th to 18th 2015, the festival will see an extensive line-up of shorts premiere at various cinemas across London. The event is now in its 12th year, and it is set to be bigger and better than ever, as some of the best independent filmmakers in the UK get together to showcase their work.

Beyond the movies, there will also be cross-arts events, talks, seminars, workshops, and discussions so that those behind the camera have the chance to share their knowledge and expertise in the field. And you never know – you may even meet a famous face or two in the process.

Last year, over 7,000 tickets were sold for the 75 events that took place – in total, over 300 movies were screened and it was a roaring success. Organisers hope to trump these figures in 2014, so you really will be spoilt for choice. For more details on the line-up and venues, be sure to check out the official website.

You may want to combine the festival with some of the other great attractions in the city, and make a real weekend of it. Book yourself into a London hotel and enjoy all that this great place has to offer, whether it is sipping on a cocktail in Shoreditch, being freaked out at the London Dungeons or perusing 3,000 years of history at the British Museum. There is sure to be something here to suit all ages and tastes.
