Adventures in Moominland, Southbank Centre
Now – 20th August 2017
Adventures in Moominland is well worth a visit if you are interested in The Moomins by Tove Jannsson or have an interest in children’s literature as a whole. The exhibit takes visitors on a magical journey through the world of Moominland and its characters. Original drawings, 3D models, paintings and other personal items are all on display at the Southbank Centre. If you decide to check it out, it’s worth allowing an extra hour or two to explore the other displays on offer throughout the Centre – many are free to attend.
Summer Exhibition, Royal Academy of Arts
13th June – 20th August 2017
From June to August, the Royal Academy of Arts will hold its annual, and hotly anticipated Summer Exhibition. This exhibition is one of the best in town and throughout its many years it has helped a number of famous artists to make a name for themselves. Visitors can expect to see compelling pieces by Isaac Julian, Gilbert & George, Wolfgang Tillmans and Yinka Shonibare, among others.
Art Night 2017, Across London
1st July 2017
Art Night is an arts festival that, as the name suggestions, takes place for one night only. It consists of art, performance, architecture and music – so, there really is something for everyone. The one night extravaganza will be held on 1st July 2017 and runs from early evening into the night. Guests are invited to follow a trail of art across the East End, checking out art projects and installations as they go.
The Encounter: Drawings from Leonardo to Rembrandt, National Portrait Gallery
13th July – 22nd October 2017
This exhibition celebrates the works of some of the world’s most famous artists, including Leonardo da Vinci and Rembrandt van Rijn. With 50 artworks on show, this exhibition is well worth a visit if you are a fan of portraiture or classical art.
